Happy Canada Day? Not so much!

This Canada day is like no other we’ve seen before. It’s more like a sad celebration for Canada’s 154th birthday.  Yes, we are still battling a virus that is one billionth our size but what’s more saddening is thinking of the native children who suffered at the hands of the catholic residential schools. Children who never had a childhood and who never got to see their families, their loved ones and the children who had their culture taken away. Mass graves and children with no names, survivors who can never shake the pain, have a story to tell and Canada needs to listen. The world needs to hear the stories of the true history of Canada.

This Canada day we must reflect and listen to the survivors, we must remember the children, this Canada day what we should celebrate is absolutely nothing.  Indigenous people have suffered and these discoveries are only scratching the surface.  Sadly there will probably be more discoveries, more pain and more grieving. My heart goes out to all the victims and it pains me to think about innocent children who only ever wanted just to be loved.
